ART PALM SPRINGS OFFER GLIMPSE BEHIND THE ART WITH ARTIST AND GALLERIST TALKS
PALM SPRINGS, CA -If your interest in art is for more than what meets your eye when you go to an art museum or gallery, the lectures at Art Palm Springs may hold the kind of information you crave.
Throughout President’s Day Weekend, February 16-19, in addition to gathering nearly 80 galleries from around the world that represent more than 300 artists, Art Palm Springs will offer discussions with artists and gallerists exhibiting in the fair.
Artist of the Year Andy Moses will sit down with Peter Frank and Alec Longmuir to talk about not only his own work, but that of his pioneering artist father, Ed Moses. In the 1950s the elder Moses, who died January 17 at his home in Venice, California, was one of the midcentury artists who was exhibited and had his talent nurtured at the Ferus Gallery in Los Angeles. While Andy Moses followed his father into the art world, his bold take on color and the relationship between space, shape and light are his contribution to the art world.
In Conversation with William Turner, owner of William Turner Gallery in Santa Monica, presents a retrospective of Ed Moses’s work, his process, and the history of art in Los Angeles. The talk includes an excerpt of a 2013 conversation with Moses.
Other scheduled talks include L.A-based artists Kelly Reemtsen and Brad Howeon their pointed and politically astute paintings and prints that reflect powerful contemporary women, presented by David Klein Gallery. And Modern Mindset: The Midcentury Modern Art of Danny Heller presents the artist talking about his photo-realistic works that have influenced designers and artists in their own work, presented by George Billis Gallery.
Below is a list of highlighted Talks and Events scheduled at Art Palm Springs. In addition, many other galleries will also host other in-booth book-signings and artist presentations.
Art Palm Springs’ Opening Night Preview is scheduled for Thursday, February 15 with a VIP reception and presentation of Art Patrons of the Year to David Kaplan and Glenn Ostergaard, as well as Artists of the Year Awards to Ed Moses and Andy Moses. It is open to the public Friday, February 16 through Monday, February 19 at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
