David Einstein

davideinsteinDavid Einstein (b. 1946) is an artist working on the west coast of the United States. He studied painting and sculpture at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine and completed his undergraduate work at Oakland University in Michigan. David holds a M.F.A. Degree in Painting from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan.

David’s paintings evolve in an non-objective vein that allows him the freedom to explore images in both spontaneous and reductive approaches. He creates art that exists as an autonomous reality, restoring order to a perceived chaos. Working on a variety of surfaces using mixed media Einstein explorations the abstract laws of color, reducing light to its color elements.

David has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Austalia, Canada, Europe, Isreal and the United States. Along with corporate, public and private collections, his work is included in the permanent collections of The Crocker Museum, Sacramento, CA, Autry Museum, Los Angeles, CA, Triton Mueum of Art, Santa Clara, CA, Albuquerque Musem of Art and History. Albuquerque, NM, Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Johnson County, KS, Philbrook Museum of Art, Tulsa, OK, Archives of American Art, Washington, D.C., Cranbrook Museum of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI, National Jewish Museum, Wahington, D.C. and The Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Lima, Peru.

David’s work was included in the publication Fixing the World / Jewish American Painters in the Twentieth Century, and the most recent text, David Einstein: A Forty-Year Survey, 1970-2010. A fifty year retrospective of his work will be at The Triton Museum of Art in 2018.
