The Desert Art Center makes its gallery space at 550 North Palm Canyon Drive available for its gallery displaying members to have exposure to their art in the community and to sell their art in a co-op, non commercial setting. All members of the community are welcome to become members of the organization and submit their artwork to its art jury committee. Those who are selected by the jury can become gallery display members and put their artwork into each of the bi-monthly members’ shows. Gallery members are responsible for gallery operations 7 days a week; two to four members are in the gallery during business hours.
A portion on the sales income is retained by the DAC to support its operations and outreach programs. The remained is returned to the artists.
The Desert Art Center has been involved with community art programs since it was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in July 1950. Its programs have evolved over the years and have expanded substantially since leasing and renovating the Frances Stevens school buildings in the mid 1990’s. Below is a list of the Desert Art Center’s outreach activities over the last few years. The organization is committed to continuing these activities in the future and to explore ways to expand educational programs.
